As a Center of Excellence in marine conservation, the Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center is a leader in high-quality research and knowledge, actively supporting regional conservation initiatives. Our focus extends beyond rescue and rehabilitation to include seagrass ecosystem research and restoration, which are vital components of marine biodiversity and climate resilience. Furthermore, the Center is advancing sustainable aquaculture research and development, aiming to support food security while minimizing environmental impact.

The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center provides care for local marine wildlife through cutting-edge rescue and rehabilitation facilities including specialized equipment, rescue boats and jetskies, an ambulance, a shared necropsy facility, a leading veterinary hospital and is led by a team of rescue operations subject-matter experts.
Supporting the development of a strong rescue network, the Center works alongside its partners with relevant authorities to rescue, rehabilitate and return marine animals to their natural habitats.

The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center’s education goals are to inspire the public to protect marine wildlife as well as educational institutions to commit to marine conservation efforts. The center seeks to encourage the public’s commitment to marine conservation and foster the next generation of marine scientists and conservationists by raising awareness of marine life and advancing marine sciences in the UAE through partnerships with higher education institutions.

The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center’s Education program, provided in collaboration with SeaWorld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, aims to conduct educational workshops and lectures as well as provide a dedicated curriculum at the center to familiarize the young generation with marine sciences and marine wildlife. The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center also hosts special events such as seminars and science talks covering a wide range of topics related to marine sciences, with local and top international marine scientists. The center’s Education team hosts local and international students who carry out their studies in marine and veterinary sciences with our team of experts.

Additionally, as a part of our commitment to conservation and preservation, our education outreach programs include organizing beach clean-ups, mangrove forest replanting and several other active conservation projects that ultimately leave a positive mark on the community and the preservation of various species.

The center’s Research team conducts fundamental and applied studies focusing on the marine ecology of the Gulf covering topics such as marine biodiversity, ecosystem resilience, sensitive wildlife conservation, critical habitats restoration, fisheries, pollution, and wildlife health. The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center also carries out applied research studies for marine ecosystem restoration with aquaculture-based projects including fish breeding, seagrass cultivation, coral reproduction as well as field projects focusing on critical habitats of Abu Dhabi waters (seagrass, mangroves, oyster beds, coral reefs). The center will also launch a project on seagrass, which is one the most important marine habitats of the Gulf. The aim of this project is to develop seagrass cultivation methodologies that would allow the UAE to develop large-scale restoration projects for this critical ecosystem.

The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center’s aim is to become a leader in the local marine scientific community by contributing and participating in marine science research and conservation efforts in the UAE. These aims also include taking an active role in the improvement of regional and global knowledge in marine sciences (through workshops, presentations, publications, visiting scientists, training programs and education).

The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center seeks to support the emirate’s commitment to marine conservation and foster the next generation of marine scientists by raising awareness and education on marine life.
